Jul 25, 2009 · So my two cents even though this thread is a bit old. I am going through a bit of a snit trying to replace the PF63e for my Acadia. First, the PF63e is, in theory, a adequate filter for the application. GM now lists it in their parts lookup as the replacement factory filter.You can compare the Insolubles- where I used the PF-48 in all the UOA- except the One at 91,300 is the PF-48E. Based on the UOA- there is no reason for me to use the larger PF-63 in my Traverse with 5000 mile oil change intervals. I also just started to use the PF-63E on the Equinox with the 3.6.So I found the bypass specs possibly and it is 150kPa for the pf63e and only 100kPa for the pf63. I believe the PF63E has a little stronger bypass spring in them making sure more if not all of the oil goes through the filter paper. Is that right? That said, the newer ACDelco PF63E uses a poppet style bypass with the ecore nylon cage and the pleating looks relatively tight and uniform.
