I feel like STR builds were more OP in DS1 cuz of the way poise worked passively. Also stuns w/ heavy weapons like the Zweihander were much more frequent and much more taxing to the enemy when they occurred. Stats: Vigor, Strength, endurance, and Vitality are going to be your most important. You should only pump Dex up to whatever you're going to need for the weapon you want. I don't like wearing any heavy armors, so vitality is the lowest priority for me.
