Slightly correction. This screen is actually only 7 hour and half in. The achievement icon on the top left is for "There is no Spoon" one. I did eventually unlock the 15 hour one after taking this screenshot. Yes I went crazy with burner inserter for my steam/coal power setup and never really stop using them like at all.In 1.0 you can do that in 103. But you can use the guide with hand crafting if you want to just launch a rocket before 8h. The crafts are 1 steam generator, 1 off shore pump, 1 lab, 10 red science, 1 power pole, 1 boiler (you need to use the furnace if you want to avoid a craft), and 1 assembler 1 (once science has been researched) 1. Reply.I would have to agree - if you are going for the no spoon achievement you should really have the more common ratios down pat (such as the standard 3-2 copper-green circuit setup, 1-10 gear-red science setup, and the 1-1-12 inserter-belt-green science setup which by itself needs 1-1 gear-inserter, 1-1 gear-belt, and 2-1 coil-green circuit to work well …

The first two hours is the most important to get right. Keep multiple saves. (Spoon-1, Spoon-2, etc.) at regular time intervals so you can backtrack if things go sideways. Huge starting area (I didn't realize this), rich large resources. I also prefer a desert starting area. Chopping trees costs time. You can turn off pollution; that's what I did with my No Spoon run. Turning off pollution is like a semi-peaceful mode: biters don't get aggressive unless you approach them. Reply reply
There is no spoon at 4:35:27. So, 3:24:33 remaining. I also got "Steam all the way" achievement on that attempt. I put biters at max distance (I had to kill 1 expansion that was close to the pollution cloud) and turned up the resource sliders all the way to the max. That is 1 science per cycle on an AM1 or AM2. Works good enough. My other advice is to buffer stuff. This is not recommended for normal play, since it hides bottlenecks. In the No Spoon case, you want to hide bottlenecks.
