Installed the oiler cup and front case half: Stuffed the gears: Used a thin schmear of gear-oil RTV on both sides of gasket, and carefully mated the cases. I used some sticky gasket spray to hold the rear thrust washer on. Cases are carefully mated, making sure the H-N-L arm is in the right spot.It’s a raised cover but to accomodate H55 5-Speed gearbox, The transfer case bolt patterns needs to be moved down a bit I believe. The transmission cane is in the same place on the 83/84 inspection cover. The transfer case opening is around a inch further back on the five speed. There were very few markets that got an h55f in the f/h variety prior to 1985, but most parts besides the input shaft and bearing are the same in the later varieties. I think the input shaft part number for the earlier smaller bearing variety you're looking for is 33311-60070. Prolly not available in North America.If you don't have the H55F shifter you'll need one of those as well (not the tower but the shift lever itself). Personally, unless you need to go faster than 65 for long periods the H55F is neat but not terribly useful (the low first gear is nice too but H41s are lots cheaper). Obviously you will also need driveshaft modifications too.
