It would not idle at all before and but ran OK. After rebuild, it idles smooth and steady and accelerates great. It is now idling a bit faster than it was when it was still barely idling and stalling.In either case i would think you are getting too much fuel at idle, which the increased airflow by removing the airbox lid helps compensate for.
