Is the gauge is pegged over full, it's either a bad sender or open ground issue. If it's pegged empty the sender wire is grounded out. 4240 quad range issue. Tractor will not go into any gear (1-4) but will go into all ranges (a-d). It makes a grinding noise went you attempt to go from neutral into any gear. They have a different injection pump than the 4430 and 4440s. The 4430 has a 404 CI engine and the 4240 has a 466.So I have done some research on this forum and found that the 4300 series has a issue with snapping the range selector shaft on the side of the case. In result you need to take off the rockshaft assembly to access the pin ot remove and reinstall the new range shaft. Deere wants $86.00 hour labor and said it's a 12-14 hr job.

When in parallel, the volts stay the same, but you double your amps. If it was mine, I would put two 12 volts in it. If it doesnt get used in real cold weather, I have seen them start just fine with one 12 volt.If your 320's engine is acting up, check these common 320 skid steer problems first. The fuel filter could be clogged. Replace it every 200 hours. A dirty filter reduces power and performance. The air filter may need changing too.
