Old sickle bar mower
My MF31 sicklebar has two pulleys, two idler wheels and a belt. Pretty simple once you figure out how to mount the idlers. Then of course one must transform the rotary motion of the driven shaft to reciprocal motion to drive the sickle. I vote for selling the pitman drive mower and buying a pitmanless model.I mounted a 40 inch sickle mower to a 6-HP Sears tractor a couple of years ago. The sickle would have to be shut off to raise it all the way up but it would operate in a range of about 30 degrees up or down from the level position. Your tractor looks about the same size. New Holland is a good mower and will do the same. 800.00 to 1500.00 depending on age.
