I love the P229 but it's tricky to push the slide release up to lock the slide back when there isn't an empty mag inserted. I realize the 229 is a carry gun and the low pro slide release is there for a reason, but are there larger slide releases? Would a 226 slide release be compatible?.

Remember, the Legacy P229 (9) and the P228 share everything, except the slide. You can mix and match all you want as long as you have the correct slide/barrel and locking inserts.
