Thanks. There is a good chance the wiring diagram posted for the 3 amp charging system is not correct. Notice the headlamps are powered by their own stator winding and only work with the engine running. If you can remove the oil level switch wiring from the circuit it would give the same result. Oil level low the relay is activated and the power to the starter is interrupted.
